This page contains various recipes I use frequently when juice fasting.

Juice Recipes

Note: If you decide to make more than a fresh serving at a time I highly recommend a slower masticating juicer as they will not contain as much aeration/foam in the juice and it will store longer (though never store more than 48 hours- and 24 hours or less is even better).

Mean Green

The basic Mean Green juice recipe as seen on the Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead documentary (Joe usually added some lemon and ginger as well).

Makes a single serving of about 16-24 ounces based on size of ingredients:

    • 6 Kale Leaves
    • 4 Celery Stalks
    • 1 Cucumber
    • 2 Apples
    • 1/2 Lemon
    • Ginger Root (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch)

Mean Green (with carrots)

There are several basic variants of the Mean Green juice recipe. I personally use this one because I am not a fan of the lemon or ginger in my drinks. I will strain all the juice to remove more of the pulp and foam. When first juice fasting I would drink four 20 oz. servings of this each day. More recently I find that three 24 oz. servings of this is good for me most days.

Makes a single serving of about 16-24 ounces based on size of ingredients:

    • 6 Kale Leaves
    • 4 Celery Stalks
    • 1 Cucumber
    • 4 Carrots
    • 1 Apple

Additions – For the Kale I will sometimes swap out for Spinach, Swiss Chard, or other leafy green. I will sometimes also swap out the Apple for a Pear. Lastly, I may also on rare occasion add something like red cabbage, a beat, a bit of pineapple, watermelon, or grapes. I try not to add the more sugary or acidic fruits very often however.

You can find a lot of healthy juice recipes on Joe Cross’ website.

Gerson Green Juice

I have not ever made this juice myself, but I thought some people may be interested in seeing the recipe. A link to their PDF for this recipe can be found here.
